A Guide to Family Cruising – What’s life like aboard for children?

Wondering how your children will find sailing the seven seas? With children’s clubs, activities galore, and plenty of new friends, you might find your little ones are so excited by life on-board that they don’t want to leave…

Children’s Clubs

Most cruise lines offer free children’s clubs, with fully trained members of staff to make sure your little ones are in safe hands – and having a great time.

You’ll find separate clubs for different age groups, with free daily children’s clubs usually catering for ages two to 17. The clubs tend to operate in specific zones on each ship, so children can run around, make new friends, and try lots of new activities all in one place.

What happens each day at the clubs?

It’s a delight of music, sports, and giggles! Some of the exciting on-board activities include discos, sports challenges, dance classes, and arts and craft projects.

Babysitters

Babysitting facilities on cruise lines offer a perfect chance for mummy and daddy to nip away for a quiet meal together, safe in the knowledge that their little ones are being entertained or taking a nap!  Some cruise lines offer complimentary babysitting services while others charge an hourly rate. P&O Cruises offer a free night nursery to care for little ones aged six months to four years (on some ships it’s available until 2am!). Cunard’s night nursery, meanwhile, looks after children aged six months to 23 months and parents receive a pager so that the nursery staff can stay in touch.

Adventures on-board

Cycling? Water slides? Film nights? Your little ones might just find there are too many activities to pack into their cruise holiday!

Alongside the on-board children’s clubs, there are lots of facilities to entertain both younger and older children. Carnival has a thrilling waterpark (complete with scary slides) and Seuss At Sea, with the wonderfully whimsical Dr. Seuss and his friends adding a charming touch to voyages. Aspiring screenwriters and directors will be enthralled with Celebrity Cruises® iTake video project, while their dedicated Xbox stations will delight young gamers!

The choices you have for your cruise holiday are almost endless and this is the great reason why a cruise will perfectly meet your needs.  That choice is another reason why you should seek expert advice when making your selection.
